The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileSt Matthews is in the top 10% of the country for social deprivation. Food poverty can be a serious problem for low income families. With the introduction of universal credit we believe this problem will get much worse. We have no official facilities in the local area although we know there is a need. With your help we can make a real difference when people are facing some of the most difficult times in their lives.
The facility will offer emergency provisions unto three days of food, toiletries and other emergency essentials to local residents. The community will be able to self refer and those needing more specialist support will be referred to other partners and agencies if they agree.
There is already a need for this kind of facility in our community and we believe the demand will increase with the introduction of universal credit. We want to be ahead of the situation to help prevent people going into crisis.
