Stockdales is delighted to be putting the wheels in motion to introduce our 5th residential service for people with learning disabilities, complex needs and life limiting conditions. How fantastic is that!? 

This is something we have wanted to do for a long time as it will help even more people to live independent lives. But a cap on our fee income for 8 years made it impossible to deliver. Then in 2017, the local authorities finally agreed to a fair price for care which has now made this venture a reality for us. And we are so excited! 

After months of searching for the right place, we were thrilled to find the perfect property and the sale completed at the end of last year. The detached property in Sale cost a whopping £555,000, which is a considerable investment of our funds which we wisely saved over the years.

We will be working closely with our architect and builder to plan our super 5th residential service, which is a dream come true! Building work will then begin after our plans have been approved. So there is a lot to do for us to open the doors in 2019/2020. And we have to raise a further £545,000 too, so we’ll need your help! 

This is a massive project for Stockdales, but it’s something we’re well experienced in from developing our other residential services. We know what needs to be done to get things just right so we meet the needs of our service users and create a fantastic home for them, so they can live regular and happy lives; experiencing life just like everyone else.

Costs include our work with the architect, all of the building and structural work, the purchase of all equipment, fixtures and fittings and decoration. This includes fitting a lift, specialist baths and beds, lifting and safety equipment, fire doors and sprinkler systems as well as the basics such as wider doorways to allow for wheelchairs, a new kitchen and laundry room. The list is endless!
