Most of us do not understand what hunger really means. Unfortunately, for a lot of school children, a quality meal is still elusive. At Akshaya Patra – via our Food for Education program, we are currently changing the future for 1.6 million children by providing them with freshly cooked school meals every day. But a lot more needs to be done! We are now planning to scale our program to serve quality school meals in the UK via breakfast and holiday clubs. School meals have received a lot of attention in the media recently and at Akshaya Patra we are striking new collaborative partnerships for them to become healthier, fresher and available to all in the UK. Starting with London and our partnership with the Mayor of Brent, we are preparing to set up our first UK kitchen facility. In so doing we will be bringing our globally celebrated, world class services to the UK.   To get this initiative off the ground, two revolutionary German made combi steamers are needed urgently. Convotherm 4 represents the perfect technology for our needs by producing a wide range of flavoursome dishes that retain their freshness longer and are manufactured faster. Thousands of children can benefit from this as the Convotherm 4 makes 800-1000 meals simultaneously and can produce up to 25,000 meals a day. In order to purchase two Convoterm 4 combi steamers, we need to raise £60.000.
