Story
The Bridge East Midlands, a housing and homelessness charity, has been supporting homeless people and those at risk of homelessness since 1993.
Homeless people are the most socially excluded people within our society; being without a home destroys lives and leads to poverty, great hardship, isolation and death.
There are currently more than 268,000 people across England who are homeless, and yet this number is only a shadow of the reality, a ‘conservative estimate’, as many more go unrecorded.
Since January 2017 there have been 353 people who accessed our services who were at risk of homelessness, in addition to the 369 people already statutorily homeless.
Our organisations’ aims and objectives are to prevent and relieve homelessness and tackle the underlying causes, such as relationship breakdown, domestic violence and the ending of tenancies within the private rented sector.
To enable us to continue working with homeless individuals and families we would appreciate a small financial gift, to support our ongoing work within our communities.
Our Homeless Transitions service alone rehoused 120 people between January and October 2017 whilst hundreds of other homeless people were supported across our different services during the year.
