The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileThe Nick Mowl Cup will be held in memory of popular local footballer and coach Nick Mowl, who died by suicide a year ago.
The tournament will be held at one of his former clubs Solihull Moors on Saturday 12 May and will help raise funds for The Kaleidoscope Plus Group - www.kaleidoscopeplus.org.uk - who will use the money to help establish a Suicide Prevention Text Line service.
The money raised will help them employ a co-ordinator and a text service operator who will lead in the management and co-ordination of a national text service which will keep individuals who are experiencing suicidal thoughts safe from harm.
The event, will comprise of open age five-a-side tournament as well as contests for U10s, U11s and U12s, plus a family fun day.
Many former local professionals are planning to play on the day, which starts at 10am.
Nick's dad, John said: "Last May, Nick sadly passed away.
"It is the wish of us his family and his friends that as many positives as possible come from this tragedy.
"To honour Nick and to raise money to support the launch of a Suicide Prevention Text Line service his friends are organising an annual charity five-a-side football competition."
Nick's close friend and ex-Birmingham City and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Maik Taylor said: “It is going to be a great occasion celebrating Nick’s life whilst also raising awareness to let other people know who are maybe fighting this that there is help available and being on your own is not the way to go forward.
“The most harrowing thing is that we all feel no one could help Nick because we didn’t know anything about how he was.
“It’s about telling someone who could help.
“We have lost a great friend, but now this is an opportunity to get this message out there to others who may be suffering silently."
Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
