Story
The Mountain Way (see www.mountainway.org), recently established as a Charity (1171751), exists to help UK military veterans overcome post traumatic stress.
It was a cause that our dear friend, Chris Monk, believed in with 100% of his heart.
As one of the founder Mountain Way team members, Chris worked tirelessly to enable veterans to benefit from this unique programme. It was, therefore, an enormous blow to all who knew him when he so tragically died last year.
At his funeral, his wife Lynn spoke movingly about Chris’ enormous impact on so many people, his constant high spirits and of his many life-affirming sayings. The one that resonated with all was Chris’ often stated advice to friends: “you need four hugs a day to survive and twelve to thrive”.
It got us thinking. How could we combine a dedication to Chris’ role in establishing the Mountain Way, promote such great advice to the world and do something that raises awareness and funds for a cause he cared so passionately about?
This is the answer. We are calling it the #12millionhugs challenge and we would love your support - to take part and to help us spread the word about it.
