Our mission is to support people to earn an income from a trade. We run vocational training and business development projects with our partners in Ghana, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia. Our UK volunteers collect and refurbish donated tools and sewing machines to support our projects and our shop sales.

Story

Augustine is 35 years old.He lives in Bo, Sierra Leone, with his wife, and their three children – aged 10, 7, and just 8 months. He grew up during the 11 year civil war which claimed over 50,000 lives – among them, Augustine’s own father. His family could not afford to keep him in school after his father died.

With no education, and no skills for work, Augustine was struggling to provide for his family when he heard about the Tools for Self Reliance training project. The 12 month training course in carpentry, run in partnership with local charity Mobility Sierra Leone, taught Augustine all aspects of the trade as well as training in business and financial management, life skills, and health awareness.

Augustine is now part of a small business he set up with fellow trainees, and earning an income. He can pay his bills, and send his children to school. You can help us transform more lives like Augustine's by making a donation this Christmas.
