Story
'Empire of the Sikhs' is a major exhibition presented by the UK Punjab Heritage Association (UKPHA) featuring a glittering collection of stunning objects and works of art that reveal the remarkable story of the Sikh Empire, and the European and American adventurers who served it.
The exhibition runs from 12 July to 23 September 2018 at the Brunei Gallery in London.
The story will be told through a glittering array of over a hundred works of art and objects from leading private collections and major institutions, including stunning jewellery and weaponry belonging to a number of historic figures such as Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Maharani Jind Kaur and General Hari Singh Nalwa.
This is the third major London exhibition presented by UKPHA. It follows the phenomenal success of our 'Golden Temple of Amritsar' and 'Empire Faith & War: The Sikhs and World War One' exhibitions of 2011 and 2014. During our previous exhibitions we have attracted over 50,000 visitors to the gallery to learn more about their culture and heritage. We estimate that a staggering 1 in 20 British Sikhs have visited our previous two exhibitions.
These exhibitions have been the result of the hard work of a large number of talented and passionate volunteers and the very generous support of funders and sponsors.
The £10,000 from this campaign will help us pay for the professional design and mounting costs. As a registered charity your donation can go a lot further if you are a UK tax payer through the Gift Aid scheme.
Please help us to make a real difference in raising the awareness of Sikh heritage and culture, which is not possible without donations from generous supporters like you.
