Story
West Lothian Drug and Alcohol Service receive funding and contracts to support the majority of costs for services such as working with offenders and vulnerable people, bereavement support and counselling. However, many grants do not allow for or do not fully cover core overheads such as administrative staff, building or utility costs. Several projects such as tobacco education within schools and our family support group are unfunded and as such rely on our general reserves to continue to provide the positive work within the area. Other projects such as our bereavement counselling for children are only part funded. These funded/part funded posts can only continue whilst reserves are available and are seen as vital additional services within the charity - receiving positive feedback from both service users and other organisations. In order to provide our services, we rely on donations to help support these costs, freeing up limited reserve funds to utilise within the community.
