Story

The WSR Wagon Restoration Group are busy again. They are restoring a 1942 MoD Brake Van, owned by the WSR PLC, to allow the recreation of a typical military freight train of the 1939/45 era.

The project includes replacement tongue and grooved timber boards for the body of the van plus materials to refurbish the roof to ensure that it is watertight.  These brake vans, commonly known as Pill Box Brakes, have the unusual 2 X wide boards , 2 X narrow boards configuration that increases the costs of machining.

The materials needed are:

20 X 105 finished T&G boards, 20 X 170 finished T&G boards, roof timbers and waterproofing, Williamsons Paint, Small tarpaulin.

The total cost is £558. However we already have £85 that was raised and not spent on the previous project for wagon tarpaulins and that will be used for the tarpaulin for this wagon.  Therefore the amount needed is £473.  All the work is to be done by volunteers.  Please support this campaign to complete the military freight train.
