Visit the charity's profileIn 2014, ISIS attacked the Yazidis in Iraq and committed a genocide. ISIS slaughtered over five thousand men, enslaved over 6500 women and children, forced the entire community to leave their homeland, destroyed their homes and looted their belongings
Three years later, the genocide is still ongoing. Over 3000 Yazidi women and girls remain in captivity/missing and over 2,000 survivors of ISIS enslavement are living in miserable conditions in refugee camps. Yazidi homes are still destroyed and the community remains largely displaced. One-third of people from the cities of Sinjar and Bashiqa have returned to their homes, but there is a severe lack of support and essential services. Hospitals & clinics lack medicnes, many school are closed, essential aid such as food, heating kerosene and clothes are not available
Yazda is on the ground supporting the victims/survivors through a range of medical, educational, developmental and humanitarian projects:
Through the Women’s Centre and Administrative Support project, Yazda provides case-management to over 1,400 female survivors of ISIS enslavement, which focuses on resettlement to safe countries & provides essential humanitarian & psychological support.
Through mobile medical clinics in Sinjar, we provides free medical services to over 1500 patients every month.
Through Educational programs, Yazda built a school, pay travel expenses for 1200 students and educates more than 600 children who would otherwise be vulnerable to militia recruitment.
Yazda documents ISIS crimes and works with Amal Clooney and Nadia Murad to bring ISIS to justice.
Yazda provide free urgent aid and small businesses for low income families. Yazda and survivors like Nadia Murad and Fareeda Abbas have brought hope to Yazidis and become global representatives of their community.
Funds from this campaign will be spent on the above-mentioned projects and will touch the lives of thousands of victims of genocide and mass enslavement.
