Story

Wiltshire-based social enterprise, Leadership Challenges uses adventure to inspire leadership. This event perfectly encapsulates that ethos.

Little or no aid has reached many of the remote villages since the earthquakes of 2015.  This year's monsoons have wrought more havoc to communities that had only just started to recover. 80% of the countries crops have been washed away.  Many people are still living under temporary shelters or in the ruins of their homes, without proper water supplies and without a school for their children. YYY Foundation has rebuilt 4 schools over the last year, with three more currently under construction.  It is hoped that e2e Challenge 17 will raise enough money to build another 4 schools, each in communities that have not been reached by local or other world bodies.

Setting out from Singhati on 31/10, the route passes through the central hills of Nepal,  traversing some of the areas worst hit by the 2015 earthquakes, before finishing in Barpak 8 days later. As well as the tough physical challenge, cyclists will be exposed to the aftermath of the earthquakes and the appalling conditions in which many villagers are still living, compounded by the worst monsoons for decades.

e2eChallenge17 aims to raise awareness of their plight and aspires to raise enough money to build up to 5 new schools.  At each destroyed buildings will be replaced and much need toilet blocks and clean water supplies will be added.  The charity will restock the schools with books and strong rooms to keep everything safe, should another earthquake hit. These new schools can change the lives of hundreds of children who live within the local catchment areas, and whose life chances are being compromised as they continue to have no access to schooling and education.

We started in 2015 with emergency relief. Today we are still working with remote communities helping them to create more equal society through education. We're funding reusable period packs for girls, computers and training for secondary schools & helping primary schools bridge their funding gap.
