Story

Jane and I, and our dog Moses, will walk from Hay-in-Wye to Ipswich – a journey of 220 miles. As if drought and famine aren't enough for the frail, often ill, veterans and their widows to contend with, Zimbabwe is plunging into an economic abyss far deeper than ever before. Unemployment is over 90% and more businesses are closing. Even if people had the cash, most can’t afford to pay for food or medicines for Zimbabwe is now one of the most expensive countries in Africa. We are walking for the pensioners who are afraid to turn on their heating because they can't afford the bills. We are walking for children too weak with hunger to attend school even if there was money to pay school fees. We are walking for the WW2 widows facing empty cupboards, empty stomachs and for people empty of hope. The demand on ZANE’s resources is greater than ever and our waiting lists are growing. So thank you! For your money provides survival for thousands.
