Story
2018 was the toughest year for me so far, In May the doctors found I had a tumour on my cervix and was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer stage 1B1.
I was given two options, one was to have a radical hysterectomy or, 2 was to have a trachelectomy (removal of the cervix) with the chance to carry my own baby at a 85% chance of the cancer not returning.
In July, I had the trachelectomy and the operation went well after a lengthy recovery. 3 months later in October I had my first MRI check which unfortunately showed I had relapsed and it had travelled to my upper pelvis... I was heartbroken.
I was told that I would need to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy for 5 weeks everyday mon-fri.
I could not believe my luck, I had yet another hurdle to get over.
I finished my treatment on January 17th 2019, and after experiencing many side effects I am now determined to build up my strength so that I can train and hopefully complete walking the 15 mile distance between the 2 fantastic Royal Marsden Hospitals ( Chelsea to Sutton). I will be supported by my family and friends to raise money for this incredible charity.
The Royal Marsden have been amazing and I have received the best treatment and care. My consultants and key nurse have been a great support throughout every step of my treatment, taking the time to explain all of my options and feeding me with information to help me make the correct decisions.
My family, boyfriend, friends and work colleagues have all been unbelievable and kept me feeling positively strong during this difficult period... I could not have got through this without them.
Please, please, please, if you could spare any cash and sponsor this truly incredible charity, you would be doing your bit to help fight against this awful disease.
