Story
Hello and welcome to my fundraising page!
With your help I am hoping to raise essential funds for the human rights charity International Service - for 60 years they have been working with some of the most marginalised people in the world, from people with HIV in Burkina Faso, to disablabled artisans in Ghana, to impoverished young people in Palestine, empowering local communities to understand, champion and implement their basic human rights. In September I will be volunteering with them in Ghana for 3 months, in projects that aim to integrate disabled people into cultural festivals, that help traditional craftspeople access a fairer income, and that promote equal education in deprived communities.
The work they do at local grassroots levels is absolutely amazing, and over the next few months I'm going to be doing lots of different things to raise £800 for them - so please help me!
One of the first things I'm going to do in an effort to fundraise is Live Below The Line. In Ghana 28.5% of the population live below the poverty line on less than $1.25 a day. Of course, without living in that situation no know can really imagine how hard it must be, but in an attempt to better understand what life must be like for almost a third of Ghanaians, between the 14th and the 21st April I am going to live on the equivalent of $1.25 a day - that's just £5.74 for all my food and drink for the week! You can read my blod about my experiences of doing this at carmarose.tumblr.com
Other things I will be doing include cooking banquets of Ghanaian food, charity clothes swaps and more, so watch this space, dig deep and help me help a fantastic charity carry on their incredible work!
Thank you so much for checking out my page and in advance for your support.
Peace and love, Carmen x
