In 2016 my beautiful Auntie was diagnosed with a brain tumour and mine and my families world crumbled before us💔
2016 was also the year I did my first photo shoot with Lauren Lewis at @picture_patchphotography 📸
Somebody told me they loved my photos and suggested that I produced and sold my own calendar. I had never done such a thing before and had NO idea where to even begin 🧐
I didn’t want a calendar containing photos of just myself because I didn’t want to feel vein (I know right, selfie queen over here 💁🏽) and didn’t feel ready for such a thing. I have always enjoyed raising money for charity. A 5k run for Cancer Research, a 12 hour hike across the Yorkshire Three Peaks for @macmillancancer along with many other activities and events.
One day, when I was massaging my Aunties back to help her pain, something clicked in my mind..
‘I don’t want to do a calendar containing just myself as a business product, but what about a Calendar containing me AND others to raise money for @thebraintumourcharity .....’
That’s when @carnallcalendar became a reality. My brave and courageous aunty passed away in April 2017 and our lives will never be the same, but I hope I continue to make her and my family proud as myself and Photographer Lauren are now launching our THIRD calendar ❤️
We work hard all year round. Casting for models, organising meetings, arranging the photo shoots for 30+models with MUA’s such as @fitface.mua and hairdressers such as @imperialhair247, liaising and collaborating with clothing designers such as @jheezofficial and lingerie and swimwear brands such as @thegcollection for the photo shoots, selecting and editing photos, liaising with businesses to sponsor the calendar, sorting out which business is sponsoring which model and which page, writing articles for newspapers and magazines, proof reading my male and female calendars before 200 copies are printed before being sold worldwide from UK to New Zealand, organising launch events for 200 guests, and finally, at the end of the year, the work doesn’t end there because I then advertise, promote and sell my Charity Calendars. We do all this without any previous knowledge of producing a product and I couldnt be more proud of how far we have come together.
We push ourselves through mini break downs every now and then, but myself and Lauren continue to work together to support @thebraintumourcharity and whenever we produce our calendars, we are reminded of why we work so hard ❤️🙌🏼
Thank you to Studio 17 Hinckley for the beautiful photo shoot studio location. Thank you to The Hinckley Times and BBC Radio Leicester for all the support. We couldn’t do this without our models, our sponsors, our buyers and our supporters. There’s so many people to thank, you know who you are. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and I can’t thank Hayley Lawrance and The Local Rock Team enough for printing and sponsoring our 2019 Calendars ❤️
