BUPA Great North Run 2013 · 15 September 2013 ·

We are the National Deaf Children’s Society, the leading charity for deaf children. We give expert support on childhood deafness, raise awareness and campaign for deaf children’s rights, so they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

Story

Our daughter Poppy was diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears at birth. It was a huge shock and obviously we were all incredibly upset at the time. However she is an amazing little girl who hasn't let a bit of deafness hold her back in any way shape or form. I am certain she has done so well due to the fantastic family and friends who continue to help her along the way.

NDCS provided us with a weekend where we met other families with newly diagnosed deaf children. We talked freely about our concerns, fears and were given great advice on the future. I'd just like to give a bit back to help other families who need the support NDCS can offer. They provide care and advice all the way from birth, through school and beyond. I am sure we will be turning to them again once Pops starts her education journey!
