Enriching lives through horses At Cranleigh RDA, our horses benefit the lives of disabled children and adults in riding activities. We provide therapy, fitness, skills development and opportunities for achievement – all supported by our amazing volunteers and qualified coaches. RDA is an inclusive and diverse organisation. We welcome clients with physical and learning disabilities and autism, and there are no age restrictions. We are a charity, and we can only carry out our life-changing activities thanks to the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers and the good nature of our fantastic horses.

Story

Welcome to the page of  Blue, Robbie and Louiethe Casi’s Farm Team 2014 who will ride the Cranleigh RDA Sponsored Ride  on Good Friday 18 April to help raise money for the charity. All three ponies are usually engaged in RDA activities along with their six stable mates. Their three riders give their time on a regular basis, exercising the ponies to keep them fit for the therapeutic work that they do with our disabled riders.

Amelia Lee on Blue and Laura Hegg on Louie will do the shorter 3 mile route for accompanied riders. Alice Lee will ride the full 11 mile course on Robbie, who will be demonstrating his amazing versatility!  Robbie, docile and quiet, recently featured on the BBC programme Countryfile helping Helen Skelton successfully overcome her fear of getting back on a horse after past falls.  But on Good Friday 18 April he will be out, keen as mustard, the wind in his tail, riding the varied terrain of the complete circuit all over the Surrey Hills.

Our group’s mission is to bring the opportunity to ride to as many children and adults with mental or physical difficulty as we possibly can. Being disabled does not mean you cannot have enthusiasm or capability for sport. Riding is beneficial in lots of ways.  It can make people stronger, fitter, happier and more confident at the same time as giving a great deal of enjoyment and simply improving quality of life.

All the money raised from our Sponsored Ride goes to meeting the costs of the upkeep of our ponies at Casi’s Farm, Cranleigh and there are many!  Feed, bedding, shoeing, tack, rugs, veterinary and dental care, physiotherapy, fields in which to graze and let off steam, all are vital to the quality care we give our ponies.  Other costs are associated with creating the right riding conditions and environment so that our riders, currently over 220, can participate safely and happily.

We could not operate without the help of over 170 wonderful volunteers. Their time, freely given, is a critical and remarkable factor in keeping our costs down.

Please help us continue to make a difference to the lives of those who come from all over Surrey and parts of West Sussex, whether it be with a school, Care Home or individually, to ride with us.

Thank you!
