Story

What's the problem we're trying to solve?

On the 2nd of May 2012, L/Cpl Cayle Royce MBE was hit by an IED in Afghanistan, losing both legs, most of his left hand and various other bits. After 48 days in a coma he decided "that was enough rest", dusted himself down, and got on with it. He has since rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, hand-biked around New York State, flown across Spain and Kenya and now intends to fly from Seattle to San Francisco while competing in the The Icarus Trophy

Why do we care about this?

Cayle is seen by many injured servicemen and woman as an inspiration. His continued determination to push the boundaries of what a 'disabled' person can do sets a high standard for others to follow. Help for Heroes have thrown their support behind Cayle because they have seen, first hand, the impact his deeds have done within the service community. So we should show our support, to continue to support the charities supporting him.

How will the money be spent?

Help for Heroes have covered the costs of this adventure up front. We intend to pay them back as much of that as possible so that the next time Cayle wants to do a trip they know that they will get something back.

When will supporters see the difference?

The Icarus Trophy takes place in October, there will be multiple press releases as well as a TV show being created. This will be the first of many 'adventure' trips for Cayle and we hope, the start of something incredible...
