Story

Dear Friends

I am training to take part in this year's Flora London Marathon. I have enough problem in running a few miles let alone 26 miles on 18th April 2004. I am doing this to raise some money for a charity and I write this letter to ask for your support in raising this fund.

Why do you do it?

Well, when you get to an age of 48, you go through ........... No, I do not want to go there!.

I have been involved in an organisation called ARCC, Asian Resource Centre Croydon for the last four years. This is a charitable organisation that is now sponsoring me on this event. Apart from raising money for the charity I would like to appeal to as many Asian people as I can to get involved and support the mainstream charitable activities of the UK.
Two years ago our then development manager for Asian Resource Centre, Anant Vyas, ran 2002 London marathon and raised money for charity. I am doing this now as the current chair of this organisation not only to raise money for the Charity but also raise awareness of the importance for Asian people in getting more involved in charitable activities in general. Who do you raise the money for? For children and adults who are both deaf and blind. There are some 275,000 deaf and blind people in the UK. I am running to raise money for a charity called ' Sense' who is the Flora London Marathon 2004 Official Charity. Sense is a national charity that offers support, advise, education and practical help to children and adults who are both deaf and blind. Sense provides over 200 services across the UK such as supplying specially designed accommodation for the deaf and blind people. How much are you hoping to raise and what specific purpose would the money be used for? 'Sense' is aiming to raise over £1 million from this year's Flora London Marathon. All the money raised by 'Sence' from London Marathon 2004 will fund a pioneering National Information Service to give deafblind people; their families and carers much needed support and advise regarding their rights, benefits and services. In short, providing information that is easily accessible for these isolated individuals. This will be the first service of its kind for deafblind people in the UK. How do you want me to help? I would like you to pay as much money as you can to help these very venerable people. Some time more help is needed for those parents who find out their newborn baby is deafblind for the first time. This information service would be vital for those parents. I will personally match the highest donor, which currently stands at £500. I have a list of people who have pledged £500, £200, £100, £50, £25, and £10. Any one who pays £50 or more will be invited to my house for a Grand evening in May/ June 2004. How do I pay? 1. You can pay direct to Sense by pressing the buttons above or below. I will be able to monitor this and update my total collection and continuously update my own web site, www.chandrababu.co.uk. 2. You can write a cheque made payable to 'Sense' and post it to ARCC, Day Lewis House, 324-340 Bensham Lane, Thornton Heath, Surrey, UK, CR7 7EQ. 3. You can pay into the following account: Bank National Westminster Bank Branch Norbury Sort code 60-15-16 Account number 64018571 Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
