About us
Friends of the Music of Leeds Minster exists to support and sustain the musical life of Leeds Minster.
Music is at the heart of the Minster’s worship and community life, expressed most fully through its choral tradition and historic organ. The Friends help ensure this continues, supporting services, concerts, and wider musical activity throughout the year.
A key focus of this work is supporting young musicians through choral scholarships. Students from the Universities of Leeds and York and Leeds Conservatoire sing regularly in the Minster Choir, gaining valuable training and experience within a structured musical environment. Their contribution is essential to maintaining the quality and continuity of the choir.
This work depends on ongoing support. The costs of training young singers, maintaining musical standards, and sustaining weekly worship are significant.
Donations help ensure that choral music remains at the heart of life at the Minster — supporting young musicians today and helping to secure the future of church music in Leeds.
