We are building a new station building at Wirksworth Railway in Derbyshire capturing the style of the heritage midland railway. The new station building will be a place to learn about the railway, a place to meet with friends and family for a coffee or a bite to eat and of course, the gateway to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Phase One, the external build, is finished. Our next phase is to complete the roof, with the final phase being the internal build. To do this we hope to raise £500,000. Keeping the railway running, providing steam and diesel trains from Wirksworth to Duffield is our core aim, however it is also important that maintain and share the knowledge of the railway, it’s people, the engineering, and its history. We love to see people enjoying the railway, whether it’s days out, for travel to the markets, for events or to meet up with friends. We want it to be a central part of the community.
