Hernias are a huge burden in low resource countries. Hernias can be debilitating. Access to timely surgery is inadequate due lack of resources or poor finances. Some hernia sufferers in these countries, therefore, die needlessly from complications of hernias. Operation Hernia is committed to alleviating the suffering of hernia patients in these disadvantaged countries. We achieve this by offering a hernia service and by training local doctors in hernia surgery. All our surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and technicians are volunteers who fund themselves.
