About us
Weymouth Surf Life Saving Club (WSLSC) is a volunteer-led, community-focused organisation dedicated to water
safety, physical activity, and youth development. Our mission is to equip residents and visitors with vital lifesaving
skills while promoting fitness, wellbeing, and community spirit across all ages and abilities.
• We are training the next generation of lifeguards – We are a recognised base for regional Surf Lifeguard
courses, with many members now working on Weymouth and West Dorset Beaches or volunteering with the
RNLI, as a direct consequence of their involvement in the club.
• Inclusive activities for all – From Sandhoppers, to Masters, we offer weekly training sessions for all abilities. We've
piloted winter running clubs, are planning a ‘Couch to 5K’ programme, and offer free memberships for
disadvantaged children.
• Community wellbeing – We host open social events (e.g. Bonfire Night gatherings), engage with local charities
like the Wave Project and Speak Out for mental health awareness, and champion beach accessibility, inclusive
sessions, and family-friendly activities.
• Strong local partnerships – We work alongside the RNLI, Weymouth Beach Control, the Wessex SLS regional
group, and collaborate with local schools, youth organisations, and community groups.
