Story

Many thanks indeed for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the 2015 London Marathon and I have chosen to support Unique, an amazing charity, which specialises in providing support and guidance to all those affected by rare chromosome disorders.

My niece was diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder shortly after she was born. This will affect both her physical and mental development as she grows up. As her condition is so rare, it was very difficult to find any support. Unique has been extremely helpful to us and has put us in touch with other families faced with a similar rare condition. My mother has also become a trustee. They do really wonderful work for all their members across the world, and consequently, I am extremely keen to raise some money for them to help their cause.

Some chromosome disorders can be exceptionally rare and therefore it is difficult for families to understand the consequences of the medical condition. When chromosome material is affected, the way a child develops over time may vary enormously. The support that Unique provides can therefore be a real lifeline for the families concerned.

All support (of any size at all) will make a great difference to them. The website allows donations in all major currencies, but please do contact me if you have any queries at all. I can also provide details for offline donations.

Thank you again for visiting my page. It is greatly appreciated. I am training at the moment, and without doubt, covering the miles in the heat and humidity of Singapore is an exceptionally brutal experience!! However I know it's all for a superb cause.

Thanks again

Charles
