We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!

Story

In 2007 we found out that my Dad, Roddy, had bowel cancer. My Dad was such a brave, strong man who kept his wit and sense of humour throughout the three years that followed even though he was in pain. His strength was inspirational. Dad went through numerous operations and treatment but in 2009 we were told that there was nothing else they could do and that his cancer was terminal.

At the end of January 2010 Dad went into Myton Hospice in Warwick. Myton made Dad's last 5 weeks so special, they cared for him and made sure he was comfortable and allowed him to spend his last days with dignity.

Before he died Dad asked me to make sure I raised some money for Myton Hospice so that he could give something back for the amazing care he received there. I have set myself a target of £5000,  a thousand pounds for every week he spend at Myton.

On Saturday 30th August I hosted a fundraising event at The Old Clarence pub in Earlsdon. There was live music all day, a BBQ, stalls, activities for the kids and a raffle and auction. The day was amazing! It was such hard work but seeing everyone enjoy themselves so much and give so generously made it all worth it.

After the auction we did a balloon release, people had made a donation throughout the day and then wrote a message for a loved one they have lost, which we tied to a balloon and all set off together. It was a really beautiful moment of remembrance and very emotional.

Thank you to everyone who helped both leading up to, and on the day of, the event. It was a day to remember.

So far I am just under half way to my target and will be doing more events to make sure I hit my £5000 before the end of the year. Please donate generously to this amazing cause and help me to thank Myton Hospice for the compassion and care they gave my wonderful Dad in his final days.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
