Our work is delivered by young people, for young people, giving them the skills and resources to lead change.

Story

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my cause.

Half the world is under 25.... that's 3.5 billion people. Often they are ignored in major decision that affect their lives, and 1.4 billion of these young people live for less than £1 a day. Restless Development recognise that here is a huge amount of energy and ideas and through their efforts, help to bring young people from some of the poorest countries together to fight the poverty cycle. ICS gives the opportunity for young people from the UK to go overseas, and work for 3 months alongside national volunteers to inspire, develop and change. Young people can. Young people do. What can you do? Support me.

I am hoping to raise £800 for Restless Development, an accredited charity that works in partnership with International Citizen Service (http://www.volunteerics.org). ICS works with several charities and send volunteers between 18-25 to over 31 countries to help with many communities.

I am going to India in June for 12 weeks, I want to bring young people together and work on actively developing their community and future. By teaching sexual health through a dance, or improving their life skills with computer and interview skills, or hosting a careers fair with many of the local businesses to help employment. This will dramatically help develop youth opportunities and prospects by motivating them to become active citizens and generally improve their lives. It will be a fantastic and rewarding experience with many challenges including the heat and living with a host family who have no running water or electricity... bring it on!

I should stress that none of my fundraising goes towards my expenses ie flights/visas etc. It goes mainly to resources and aid, plus ensuring our work is continued with future volunteers. I shall be doing lots of interesting fundraising events such as a themed Indian night, scrumptious cake sales and much more. I shall keep you up-to-date with my journey here and my blog which you can follow here. https://charlottesdevelopment.wordpress.com

All donations are very much appreciated and shall make a real difference to many lives. Thank you, Charlotte.
