Countrywide Estate Agents are helping to raise further awareness of Prostate Cancer which will affect 1 in 8 men in the UK and kills one man every hour. My name is Jason Carlisle, Regional Director with Countrywide - I'm 48 and have Prostate Cancer.
We are going to take one day of business to show our support for this superb charity, by each donating the price of few cups of coffee to wear "civvies" for the day! Hopefully many of our customers will ask why and we will be able to spread the message of Prostate awareness over the course of the day.
I was shocked to be diagnosed at 48 so I am going to use this experience to raise awareness and with the help of my brilliant colleagues at Countrywide Estate Agents, I am hopeful more men will get themselves checked.
The earlier the diagnosis the better, this is the key with prostate cancer.
My prostate cancer showed none of the classic signs; only a slightly elevated PSA reading the only hint after a routine blood test. Thank you to the NHS Nurse who ticked that PSA box "just to be sure..." #Angel
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) is a simple blood test that can provide an early indication of prostate cancer that men can ask for when visiting the GP. The link below gives some additional signs to look out for.
Plenty of checks on my prostate (don't be shy gents), MRI scan & biopsy thankfully identified my cancer early so the wonderful team at the Chestnut Unit, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth know how to get me fixed ASAP. I have recently undergone surgery & hopefully, with the prostate removed, I will be cancer free.
