Story
I am running the Balmoral 10K, Garioch half marathon and walking the Aberdeen Kiltwalk for Denis Law Legacy Trust.
I volunteer regularly for Denis Law Legacy Trust, a children's charity based in Aberdeen, who provide free sport and recreational activity sessions through their flagship programme, Streetsport, across the most deprived areas of Aberdeen in order to combat anti-social behaviour and youth annoyance. I am also a member of Denis Law Legacy Trust's youth forum, Granite City Speaks. The group is comprised of young people from all across Aberdeen and we have regular meetings where we discuss challenges faced by young people in Aberdeen and work with local companies and organisations in order to overcome these issues.
The trust also have various other programmes such as CLUB10 which works with families who are affected by imprisonment Another programme which the trust runs is Denis Law's Academy, which works with young people across the city in order to help them with personal and professional development.
I have volunteered for Denis Law Legacy Trust for over 3 years and in my time, I have acquired over 800 hours of volunteering. During my time, I have also had the opportunity to speak at the Trust's annual fundraising dinner and represent Granite City Speaks at the charity's Advisory Group.
The Trust has also supported me through earning my Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards as well as achieving the Saltire Summit Award, the most prestigious Saltire award which is presented to 12 young people each year.
