Chloe & Esther's 6 month Chocolate Challenge in memory of Rebecca Konzon

Welcome to Chloe and Esther's fundraising page.
We have decided to give up all chocolate(including hot chocolate and all chocolote flavoured things) for the next six months to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. We started on the 1st January 2014 and we will not be eating chocolate until the 1st July2014!
There are two main reasons why we chose this charity:
Rebecca’s Story:
When Rebecca, my sister, was only 7 years of age, she was diagnosed with a kidney failure whereby the kidneys fail to filter waste products from the blood. Rebecca was soon put on dialysis, which is a machine that carries out the kidney’s functions. She spent a lot of the next 5 years in Great Ormond Street Hospital, where the staff did everything they could to ensure she received the best treatment and care. Not only were they there for Rebecca, they were there for the whole family.
In 2003, Rebecca received a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, the transplant did not go to plan as her body rejected her new organ. She returned to GOSH later that year and was put in the Intensive Care Unit. Our family spent Christmas Day in hospital, as you can imagine, this is not the ideal Christmas everyone was hoping for, however, with some generous donations, there were three red sacks full of presents by Rebecca’s bed, not only for her, but for my sister, Jess, and I. Rebecca’s health continued to deteriorate and on the 19th January 2004, Rebecca Abigail Konzon sadly passed away, but we are forever grateful for the work and care of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Secondly, my very close friend, Abbie, has a rare condition called Complex regional pain syndrome (aka relflex sympatheitc dystophy) which is a chronic pain condition from the nervous system. Everyday, Abbie suffers from an unbelivable amount of pain. Great Ormond St Hospital have been a tremendous help to Abbie in the past with her walking and will continue to be forever as this condition will never leave her life.
From Chloe.
Great Ormond Street Hospital provides amazing care for their patients, not only for their medical care, but their emotional welfare and well-being. GOSH needs YOUR money to continue this incredible service and we hope that our stories will inspire you to sponsor us for our chocolate challenge. For children like Abbie and Rebecca.
Thank you and dig deep!
