Story

Hello!! Thanks for getting this far - nearly there now, just a couple more clicks to sponsor us...

On 7 August, Chris and I will be taking part in an Ironman Triathlon, in memory of my dad, Ian who sadly died last year.

Tragically, despite years of competitive swimming for the RAF and over 10 5km Swimathons in the last 15 years, dad had some heart problems during the swim leg of the London Triathlon last year (his 3rd race in 3 years), and had to be pulled out of the water, dying two days later in hospital on 9 August, my parents' wedding anniversary.

So exactly a year to the day since dad started his third London Triathlon, Chris and I will be taking part in Ironman Regensburg in Germany, which involves a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26 mile marathon.

We'll be raising money for SSAFA - the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen and Families Association which supports those who serve in the Armed Forces and those who used to serve and their families, and which dad had raised over £5k for in his previous London Triathlons.

Oh, and assuming we have no more bike crashes or broken toes, we'll also be taking part in Ironman Mexico in November...

Thanks very much - Chris and Phil
