Vertical Rush 2014
On 04/03/14 I will be attempting Vertical Rush as part of Team Fujitsu for the second time, this is a sponsored event organised by Shelter, it is the original and ultimate tower running challenge, with participants racing up 920 steps, yes NINE HUNDRED AND TWENTY STEPS, to the top of Tower 42 (formally the Nat West Tower) – one of London’s tallest and most iconic buildings and I aim to do it without the aid of oxygen or the help of the Red Cross.
Why am I doing this?
Fujitsu took part in this event last year and managed to raise £71,000, we would like to beat this.
When I did this last year I had recently being discharged from hospital for a ‘Brain Fart / neurological event’ and didn’t have time to train. I managed to haul my backside up all 920 steps in 10 minutes.
This year I may do a modicum of training and expect to beat my time and am aiming for 7 to 8 minutes.
To be honest there are far easier things I could have chosen to do to generate money for charity, like sitting in a bath of baked beans or eating peas with chopsticks but where is the challenge.
Why should you sponsor me?
You don’t have to there are a million and one reasons not to and only one reason why you should.
The money will directly help Shelter inject some normality into someone’s life. That’s it. Simple.
Who are Shelter?
Shelter are a charity that works to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing. They do this by giving advice, information and advocacy to people in housing need, and by campaigning for lasting political change to end the housing crisis for good.
