13.5 acres of fields are in a flood plain putting local sport in jeapardy. Raised flood levels mean water could flow through the clubhouse making facilities potentially unusable. Resident clubs Didsbury Toc H Rugby club and Burnage Metro Football Club are working together to raise the final £50,000.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Didsbury Playing Fields are home to local sporting clubs that provide hundreds of children and adults with the opportunity to participate in team sports.

The fields sit on a flood plain and the Environmental Agency has increased the levels to which the fields will be flooded which means that the existing facilities are not adequate to withstand any flood damage. This has provided an opportunity to re-assess how the playing fields are utilised and our charity has set about an ambitious plan to raise funds to build new facilities which will support the existing clubs and the introduction of new ones. The new development will increase usage of the facilities and include improved disabled access and multi-sex changing rooms.

To help raise funds for this development on the 7th of July I will be joining a team of Didsbury Toc H's finest (some might say fool hardiest) players on a trek over the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden - in less than 24 hours.

My suffering (and believe me I will be suffering!) is a small price to pay to help provide future generations with the same experiences I have enjoyed over the last 12 years at Didsbury Toc H Rugby Club, which include the many highs (and occasional lows!) that team sport brings and the many friendships that are borne along the way.

So any amount you can donate, no matter how big or small, it all helps to cause, will be most gratefully received. Many thanks in advance.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
