Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

July 1st - All future donations to
justgiving.com/hilarymcoleman
as this appeal is now closed. Team Hilary cannot adequately express our thanks for the generous support of Hilary's friends and family, and all others we got money from.

28th June - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, one and all.
Team Hilary, the immediate family of Hilary Coleman, decided to raise money for the Marie Curie Hospice out of respect for the loving care and attention Hilary received in her last weeks in the Hospice.
So, without naming everyone, thanks to the Norrises for the Quiz, for the Loopers for the Marathon, to St Malachy's PS Bangor for their marvellous £1k, and the Post Office staff.
We've raised, and paid in money for 2 Days running costs, with money left over, a lot more than we'd hoped for.
Hilary's family haven't decided on the dates, to mark Hilary, but a key point is, money raised and in to keep these essential services going.

So, what happens now? This page will close to donations on June 30th, BUT WE STILL KEEP TAKING MONEY, go to
justgiving.com/hilarymcoleman  where we will continue the campaign.

The next main thing we'll do is Friday Sept 28th, the (thankfully) reduced Twilight Walk, 7k (about 4.5miles) from Barnetts Demense, near Shaws Bridge. Register here, https://bit.ly/2KgkAfl

So folks, thanks, but sadly the need is still there, Team Hilary will continue to raise money to support the Hospice - we know we can rely on your support.

Hard to believe that Hilary is now 8 months gone. When you look at that hard working team in the Beeches above, you can see why the NHS is in safe hands!! [it was of course an Xmas panto, not standard work outfits!]

This stage of our fundraising for the Hospice is coming to a successful end - we were looking for £6090, and thanks to the Norris's excellent quiz, postal workers, esp. Deirdre, St Malachy's school in Bangor, Claire's coffee morning, the hugely successful and tiring marathon, we more than doubled that!!!!

Thanks to all concerned, but especially thanks to all the staff and volunteers in the Marie Curie Hospice.

This appeal will close in the next few days, so any last marathon contributions will be welcome.
We will restart in the autumn with the September Marie Curie Stormont 10k walk.
Future contributions can go to
www.justgiving.com/hilarymcoleman

Thanks from Team Hilary,
Ciaran Crossey

QUIZ NIGHT IN THE IVANHOE - March 21st.
Thanks to all concerned, especially Emmet and Eadain Norris, the Quiz Team, for a wonderful night. We must also thank all who attended, the firms and friends who provided the prizes - seriously loads of them - it was a very crowded room.
With the crowd present, absent friends who paid for their places, more generous donations, etc - the TOTAL PROFIT ON THE NIGHT WAS A MARVELLOUS £3,500.
This is a great help in the funding of the Hospice, thanks again to all concerned.
Ciaran Crossey, 27/3/18
 ===================================

Our lovely Hilary was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in February 2017 and in July she was admitted to the Marie Curie Hospice in Belfast where she stayed for 11 weeks until she passed away on 14th October.

In a time of such darkness, the team at the hospice were a great source of comfort to Hilary and to our family as a whole. The doctors, nurses, volunteers, chaplin, catering team, complementary therapists and cleaners all worked to ensure that Hilary's time at the hospice was as calm and comfortable as possible. We will be forever grateful for the expert, loving and patient care that she received every day.

In order to show our gratitude and to ensure that other families can benefit from such an invaluable service, we, Hilary’s family and friends, are undertaking to support the hospice by paying for 24 hours of vital care.

Together and individually we will be organising a number of fundraising events
and projects - as always we will be grateful for your support.

Thanks - Ciaran Crossey, on behalf of Hilary’s family and friends - Team Hilary, made up of me, with Nicola Crossey, Tiernan Kennedy, Pat Walsh and Deirdre Durston.
