Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Now six months ago my friend said to me 'do you want to race across India in a motored Rickshaw' Of course my answer was yes, what an adventure it will be. However now it is nearly here and 'I am saying what on earth Am I doing' Bascially myself, and 3 friends - Ali, Mike, Alex and Karim from work, plus Ali's mate, Jon are racing across India in a motored Rickshaw. For those of you that do not know what a rickshaw is, it is a tuk tuk or a 7 horse power glorified lawnmower with a box on it, for you all to sit in. All over asia they ferry people from A to B, like taxi's but not as nice and they don't have doors!
We set off from Cochin in the south of India and should hopefully arrive in one piece in Shilong in the north of India 2 and half weeks later. It is an organised trip from the company called The Adventurists. We have paid for our Rickshaws through them, which will be pimped out for our journey. We meet our lovely automobile on the 3rd April, then we are off on our own to navigate the 3000km across India to the finish line in Shilong. How exciting but oh my goodness how scary at the same time. If any of you have been to India, you know exactly what the roads are like...........................
For those of you who think this is a holiday for me, you are very wrong. This will be no holiday, this is an fundrasing adventure of a life time. The whole trip is self funded by ourselves and all money raised goes to the charity's London Air Ambulance and Cool Earth. London Air Ambulances serves the nation's capital 24 hours a day. Working with some of the finest doctors, paramedics and pilots in the world, the air ambulance delivers advanced trauma care to seriously injured people in London. They deliver literally life saving treatments to people on a daily basis, from severe road traffic accidents, rail crashes, stabbings, shootings, high altitude falls, and much more. London can be very proud of their medical helicopter service which leads the world in pre hospital trauma care. Their work is however dependent on charitable donations as they receive no money at all from the government. So it’s up to us people. Fingers crossed none of us will ever need their services, but just in case we ever do please donate kindly so that these fantastic and highly skilled doctors and paramedics can continue saving more lives on the road side.
Cool Earth is the sponsored charity for The Rickshaw Run. They work with indigenous populations to help them protect rainforests from deforestation, working to make these populations legal owners of the land to prevent private firms taking advantage.
Can I do it...... I think i can, can we win it, I hope so. Please please donate so we can reach our target and help save more lives.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
