LATEST UPDATE… 25 April 2025…9 year all clear! But still always thankful for everyday.

5 May 2017...One Year All Clear! I had my one year post op check. Mammogram and ultrasound fine and surgeon very happy (selfie with my surgeon and fave breast cancer nurse below!) #thankfulforeveryday

14 May 2016 ... I had my operation on 10 May and got the results last night. I'm officially cancer free!!! and there is no need for radiotherapy or any other medication. Thank you to my amazing surgeon Mr Anup Sharma (photo of us below 10 days later!) and the very kind nurses who looked after me afterwards. I kicked cancer's butt - please help me raise money so even more women can!!

MY STORY...

5 April 2016: On 5 December 2015 aged 41 I found a lump. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. A huge shock to me and everyone around me. But with the most fantastic medical team and care at Cancer Centre London Parkside Wimbledon, and the most amazing support of family and friends who give me strength when I need it and make me feel more loved than you could ever imagine, I'm well on my way to beating it!! There is no other option!!

Tuesday 5 April 2016 was a milestone for me as I completed my 8th and final cycle of Chemotherapy (fortunately with very positive results - thanks to my amazing oncologist Dr Muireann Kelleher and the chemo unit team). It was tough...but I am tougher!… and there is still a way to go - on this journey of ups and downs - to full recovery, with an operation in May and potentially radiotherapy, and WE WILL GET THERE, but...I feel now is the right time to start my fundraising for this life saving charity....

To my one in a million husband who has looked after me every single day better than I could ever imagine, and my amazing sister/bro-in-law who have sent me inspirational quotes/songs every single day and so much more, my lovely lovely parents who are there for me 100%, the rest of my wonderful family, all my fantastic friends, and everyone who has called, texted, emailed, sent cards / letters / flowers / gifts / videos / stories / photos, visited me, and wanted to visit me but couldn't as I wasn't up to it, cooked / baked for me, come to hospital and appointments with me, taken me out, or just sat with me when I had nothing to give - you know who you are! - over the last 4 months, I can't thank you enough, as your support, love and kindness have made all the difference and I feel blessed to have you in my life.

However, the worrying fact remains that 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at some point in their lifetime and let's face it we all know and care about a LOT of women!!! The 'Breast Cancer Now' charity's goal is that by 2050 everyone who gets breast cancer will live. If this is to be met we ALL need to act now to help fund their vital research both for women now and in the future.
