Story
I've set up this page for people who would like to support me in my new role as Country Director for Mission Direct which I'll be starting on 6th April 2010. Many of you will know that I took a sabbatical last year to spend 6 months working with Mission Direct as a volunteer - well, now I'm doing it full time! The photos on this page show the nursery school that I helped to build last year.
Mission Direct is an interdenominational charity that enables teams of volunteers from the UK to show God’s love in practical ways by participating in local projects that benefit children, families and communities in some of the poorest countries of the world. Volunteers do not require any specialist skills (although those with specialist skills can use these on specialist trips) – they provide hands-on assistance on building projects ranging from housing to schools. Mission Direct now runs campaigns in 10 countries and further information on Mission Direct can be found at www.missiondirect.org.
My role will be to oversee campaigns running in some of the countries where Mission Direct works (exact countries are being decided at the moment). This will include selecting and training the in country staff team and then supporting them in their work for the duration of the campaign, monitoring the building project(s) taking place in each country and providing orientation and de-brief sessions for all staff members and volunteers alike. It is a brand new challenge for me but one that I am very excited about undertaking.
Mission Direct will be able to contribute towards my monthly expenditure but I need to raise additional finances in order to support myself in this role. If you're able to help me financially then please donate - your gift will enable me to continue doing really important work to help some of the poorest people in the world.
If you need any more information, please get in touch.
Thank you
Clare xx
