Story

UPDATE: Yesterday - Saturday 24 July 2010 - we completed our Snowdon Climb.  We didn't expect it to be too challenging for 4 fit 15 year old boys but we were wrong.  It was raining hard when we woke up in a Youth Hostel in Llanberis on Saturday morning.  My parents took us to Pen-y-Pass where we started our climb of Snowdon, up the Pyg Trail - one of the more challenging routes.

The higher we climbed, the worse the weather became.  It was cold, very wet and windy.  We took a wrong track and had to back-track which added close to an hour to our climb.  At the summit you couldn't see anything just grey cloud with the wind and rain lashing into our faces.

We started at 10am and finished at 4.30pm having taken the Miners Trail back down.  We were cold, wet, exhausted and unable to even think straight!  We managed to get out of out wet clothes and then slept for the whole of the 3 hour journey home.

We're all glad we did it, especially as it was for Domi!

Dominic Crouch was a 15 year old boy who grew up in Gretton.  He was a cool kid.  He loved rugby and Greenday and climbing!  He was interested in everything.  He was funny.  He used to make us laugh.  He was kind and never thought badly of anyone.

We all started Gretton Playgroup together when we were 3.  Then we all went on to Gretton Primary School together.  There were only a few boys in our year so we were very close.  We were always at each others houses, having sleepovers, trips to the cinema, days out with each others families.

After primary school Domi went to St Edward's School so we didn't see as much of him.  We still kept in touch and saw each other out and about and it was always great to see how happy Domi was.

On 18 May this year Domi took his own life, we think as a result of bullying.  He walked out of school and over to a near by block of flats and he jumped off.  He was 15!

We are climbing Snowdon in Domi's memory bacause for as long as we can remember Domi was always climbing something!  We are raising money for The Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund because Domi's family chose the charity because Domi cared deeply about children who were less fortunate than himself.

We miss Domi every single day.

RIP Domi.
