Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. We did our massive climb on the 1st August and it was incredibly hard work. Took us 8.5 hours in total. But worth it for the incredible views and the knowledge that we were doing our bit for the planet with every step. Grandad Vernon did amazingly too. We all felt very relieved to arrive back on the flat road at the end following a very steep descent off the mountain, just by Doolough which is a very poignant landmark in County Mayo, one of the hardest hit areas during the Irish Famine, 1845-1850. See this link for more information about the tragedy that took place at Doolough in 1849: https://www.irishcentral.com/news/a-walk-through-history-the-horrific-tale-of-a-mayo-villages-death-during-the-great-famine-149813955-237444911
I would be so grateful for any amount of donation to my Just Giving site. All proceeds for our hard efforts are going to Greenpeace and their fantastic environmental work across the globe. Every penny counts! Thank you once again for your support. 🙏
