The Toy Trust Big Kids Bike Ride 2009 · 16 May 2009 ·

Founded by the BTHA, the Toy Trust- the industry’s charity- exists to raise money predominantly from the toy industry, its suppliers and friends; and distribute the money raised to charities helping disadvantaged and disabled children within the UK and abroad.

Story

SO about last year.... I did it! In fact the whole Disney team, 12 of us cycling and two on the bus (our support vehicle!) completed the whole 73 miles!

I raised £657,  and between us, along with some very generous corporate sponsorship, we raised £47,000! Thank you so much to everyone who supported me and the team.

And now of course, I want to do it again....

This year ‘The Big Kids Bike Ride’ will be on Saturday 16th May. All teams will be cycling the Roman Roads of Britain.

The Disney route is from Stroud to Shafsbury. Although hopefully warmer than the highest point of the Scottish Highlands last year, I understand there are some comparable hills and valleys to deal with.

As last year, the funds raised will be split 50/50 between the Toy Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Disney is covering my expenses so all the money will go directly to the charities.

Since its foundation in 1990, The Toy Trust has raised over £2 million for disadvantaged and sick children. 100% of funds raised for the Toy Trust reach the people who need it - every penny goes to children’s charities, as all administration costs are covered by the British Toy and Hobby Association or supported by volunteer activity. I am a council member of the BTHA and have been a member of this Charity Committee for 6 years now.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is a world-class children’s hospital, with the broadest range of paediatric specialists under one roof anywhere in the UK. Each year over 150,000 patients visit the hospital with the most complex, life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.
I have been lucky to see Great Ormond Street Hospital as a visitor. The work they do is really very special, but the facilities in the older parts of the hospital need a lot of updating.

Please sponsor me for any amount - every pound counts. I will do my best!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Toy Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
