Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.

Myself and 14 others from the Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Operating areas are cycling 200 miles from Edinburgh to Newcastle along the castles & coast route over 4 days from the 5th to the 8th of July.  We're doing this as a team challenge but also to raise awareness and fundraise for WaterAid.

The team members are:

Alan Alderson, Tony Bates, Richard Brotherton, Mike Burton, Peter Carruthers, Ralph Lycett, David Lonsdale, David Randle, Neil Reed,  Kay Silver, Phil Thornberry, Paul Walker, David Walsh, Alan Willloughby, Steven Young

WaterAid is an international charity that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation.
In the developing world, access to safe water to drink is literally a matter of life and death. Four thousand children die every day from diarrhoea caused by dirty water - that’s one child’s life lost every 20 seconds.

It’s criminal in this day and age that so many millions of people in the world don’t have access to the basic human rights of clean drinking water and safe toilets. And once people have water and sanitation they are the life-changing foundation stones on which they can build a decent life.
Working for a great water company like Northumbrian Water makes you really appreciate just how lucky we are - and the vital importance of water and sanitation.
