Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may be aware on the 27th of October 2011 I was diagnosed with Cancer of the Tongue and lymph nodes in my neck, as you can imagine my world was turned upside down. After extensive 14hr life changing surgery to remove the tumour and reconstruct my tongue, I endured 7 weeks of Chemo & Radiotherapy at St James's Hospital in Leeds. I'm pleased to say all the cancer was removed during surgery and fingers crossed the horrible chemo/rad treatment got rid of all the bad cells. I am on the long road to recovery and fighting hard to get back somewhere near to normal.
To say THANK YOU for everything the Yorkshire Cancer Centre do for the patients at St James's Hospital and to raise awareness of this charity and this type of cancer, my aim is to raise as much money as possible through various different challanges and events to help patients going through this horrific ordeal. As I am still recovering my Fiancee Nicola, her sister Emma and good friend Beth are going to start the ball rolling by participating in the Jane Tomlinson York 10k on August 5th and the Cumbria half Marathon on October 7th. Also, Chris Pomfret & her friend Jackie have confirmed they are doing the Jane Tomlinson Walk for All in the Yorkshire dales on August 19th, and I was suprised with a charity football day in which £542 was raised. Also my Mum held a cake sale at Ribston Hall School and raised £140, and there are other events in the pipeline so i'll keep you posted. A massive THANK YOU to everyone who's helped raise money for this great cause so far and long may it continue.
I'm intending once fully recovered to undertake one of the organised fundraising events through the charity, and will announce this in due course. Take a look at the link below so see what chalenges I could attempt.

I'm one of the lucky ones despite being put through this horrible disease I am hopefully coming through it which so many people dont. So if you could all dig deep and donate to this deserving charity it would make a big difference in one day hopefully ridding us of this awful affliction, and it would mean a lot to me and my family.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Spread the word,
Many thanks, Col Terrett
