We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Hello!

Welcome to the Cats Protection Colne Valley Branch  'Pounds For Poppet' fundraising page. We hope that her story inspires you to help support us in our long term goals of caring not just for Poppet, but for all cats and kittens in need.

POPPET'S STORY:

"It's not always an easy life being a cat. Some of us are destined for cuddles on laps, sleeping by a warm fire or lying in the sun having a belly rub from our owners. However some of us don't have such a happy life, even though we desperately want to live out our years with comfort and love.

Before I was taken in by the lovely humans at Cats Protection Colne Valley Branch, my life was not a very happy one. I lived with many other cats and we all had to survive in the best way that we could. I had to forage for food and fight for my survival in the toughest of circumstances. I needed love and interaction, but often I was alone.  I was only a kitten myself when I started to have my own litters of kittens, and over a long period of time I had many babies of my own, year in, year out. I never saw most of my kittens again. All of this left me feeling unloved, unwanted and unable to trust humans. I felt very alone and knew that my chances of a loving and happy home were fading away from me.

Then, one day I was taken from my unhappy surroundings by Colne Valley Cats Protection who continue to look after me while I wait for a forever home to come my way. Everything that I had been through left my body and spirit broken. I was very unwell and needed a lot of veterinary care, some of which I still need today. My food is a special type of food that only the vet can provide. Even though I don't have a home of my own I am warm, safe and cared for. I love to give my fosterer lots of head bumps and my fur is now soft and clean! I am still a little bit nervous but as time goes by I am learning not just to trust again, but to live again too.

So please, can you help this wonderful charity who looks after me so well, continue their important work with me, and others like me? Just the price of your lunchtime sandwich and coffee will help feed me for a week, and the price of a new book can help provide a safe space for other cats and kittens who have had a traumatic start to life.

Thank you for reading my story, if you have a cat to go home to please give them a cuddle, think of me and remember that there are thousands more like me who need ongoing love, care and support. And also remember that without your help, we would again, have no one to give us hope.

Love, Poppet x"
