Comma Partners 2.6 Challenge

Fundraising for Speech and Language UK

For at least 1.9 million children in the UK, learning to talk and understand words feels like an impossible hurdle. Your support can help give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind, waiting to be understood.

Story

The Comma Network is invited to join Comma Partners to raise much needed funds for the charity, I CAN, through the 2.6 Challenge to help save the UK's charities.  This initiative is in place of the postponed 40th London Marathon which would have seen thousands of fundraisers running 26 miles for their chosen charities.

I CAN is a children's communication charity and Comma was looking to adopt it as its official charity before Covid-19.  As a charity which brings together communications and children it is a charity close to our hearts.

Almost 10% of all children and young people in the UK - more than 1.4 million - have speech, language and communications needs?  The challenge is even greater in deprived areas, where more than 50% of children have delayed language which affects their educational outcomes, their employability and their health and well-being.

Participants are asked to do something physical around the numbers 2 and 6.  Virginia has set herself the challenge to climb up and down the stairs 26 times and Tracy will do 26 sets of 26 skips. Maxie will announce her challenge shortly.

Comma has already donated £260 to the cause and will match any donations made by the network up to an additional £260. No donations are too small and we suggest multiples of 2.6 in the spirit of the challenge.

We hope you will join us in the fundraising by undertaking your own challenge.  There's lots of information about the challenge here - https://ican.org.uk/two-point-six-challenge/

Be sure to let us know what you do and how much you manage to donate so we can match your donation.

A worthy cause we are sure you will agree.
