Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Appeal you you is to donate money ( lots of it ) to The Pelican Cancer Foundation who are dedicated to improving the survival and quality of life for patients with lower bowel ,prostate bladder and liver cancer. .
In 2004 , having had bowel cancer two years previously I sat in a consultants office in a Reading hospital who confirmed that the cancer had returned and that my life expectancy was only some six months . Shocked I enquired about the possibility of surgery and was told that the surgery would so radical it was almost not worthwhile.
At this point I tried to find an alternative and and fortunately was introduced to Professor Heald and Mr Brendan Moran . From the moment I sat in their consulting rooms they inspired me with belief and hope with Professor Heald saying my condition was operable after chemotherapy . That belief was not misplaced and after a successful operation with the care and support of all the team at the North Hampshire Hospital my life expectancy is steadily increases as the tests confirm remission . Even when they didnt in 2007 I rapidly was wheeled in for a further procedure which again was successful .
How can you repay this care ?? You cant I can help them a little by trying to raise monies for their cause.
To that end I am doing two things one is a personnel challenge - As part of a team of committed sailors I have entered the The Fasnet race through a race training company called Sailing Logic. The Rolex Fasnet Race is the highlight of the Royal Ocaen Racing Club Calender . Taking place every other year it has earned the reputation as one of the most demanding offshore races and is widely considered one of the worlds most classic ocean races . 608 miles from Ilse of wight to the fasnet rock off southern island finishing at Plymouth .
Sailing Logic have allowed me to sell sponsorship on the hull of the Yacht Lancelot 2 for the Fasnet race itself ie 2 foot squares with a companies logo on it at £1000 per logo if you are intersted in this please call me on 07877 331277 and I will be happy to arrange!
The other is just simply asking you to help with as much as you can afford the Pelican Cancer Foundation costs £500,000 a year to run and is reliant on our help so please help with what you can afford .
Thank you
Conrad
