Welcome, to The Coops Troop Challenge! 🇺🇸

Here's the lowdown: a group of family members are going to be
walking/cycling/running/swimming a combined 17,213km in 2022, the same distance as Birmingham to LA Children's Hospital and back, to raise money for Shine.

We plan to raise 50p for every single kilometre - pretty ambitious if you ask us!

Why are we doing this?

The inspiration behind the challenge comes in form of a two year old legend and the youngest member of the team, Cooper! Coops was born 3 months premature in California Hospital Los Angeles and as a result of his prematurity, he suffered a severe brain bleed that led to him developing Hydrocephalus. After an initial 3 week stint in the NICU, he was transferred to LA Children's Hospital where he spent over 3 gruelling months, before being well enough to be transferred back to the UK where he remained in hospital for a further 3 weeks. We'll always remain eternally grateful to the teams to who looked after us in the US and helped get Cooper well enough to come home!

Since returning to the UK, Shine have been a constant support for the family and continue to be and if we're able to raise not only money but also awareness for them as a charity, we'll be an extremely happy bunch!

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Coops will also be taking part with the help of a pedometer and his shopping trolley and walker, we'll be keeping track of his distance to add to the total :)
