OVERVIEW

Carmel Ministries (for which CPC Mission India is raising funds) is a Christian organisation and based around a large church in the center of Eluru.  Carmel runs an orphanage in the church grounds, which provides accommodation, food, clothing, love and care to over 50 orphans (boys and girls) and a Vocational Training Centre to ensure that once the orphans leave they are equipped to live full and secure lives.

Carmel Ministries also provides education to 220 of the poorest children in the Eluru area, helping them break free from the crippling poverty that would otherwise await them.  Regular outreach into the leper community and medical support for children and adults infected by HIV are also vital aspects of this tremendous program.

Carmel also run a bible college, and provides medicine and clothing to the leper community and HIV sufferers, both in Eluru and in outlying rural areas. They also provide an enormous amount of pastoral support to the community at large.

While India as a nation is experiencing tremendous economic growth, its prosperity is reserved for those with more education, a higher social status, or those located in urban centers like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. In rural areas, livelihood and land ownership opportunities are limited for the women. Our aim is to help raise money in order to help alleviate poverty levels and provide an opportunity for the children to gain access to good education.

Rebecca Obasanjo, Esther Kosoko,,Sinuola Dehinsilu, Genny Jones and I and a host of others have joined together to raise money for 'MissionIndia'. You will See our team target on the right. Your donation can really help us smash this goal.  We will be performing a Bollywood routine, to help raise the money.  So, please keep it coming.

SOME OF THE TEAM MEMBERS REASONS FOR RAISING FUNDS.

GENNY JONES

My aim in getting involved with this charity is to create awareness of the sufferings of other people and bring some sort of relief to them. I will be using social media to make this charity known to others and hope that we can all join in fulfilling the dreams of others.

GLORY OLAMIDE

I am all about missions and raising funds for charity because Fundraising is a great way to make a difference to the lives of children and families in some of the world's poorest communities. I have previously raised funds for Sports Relief, Haiti appeal, Tanzanian Tap Water appeal through world vision etc. I am fulfilled when I see the big difference my little effort has made in the lives of others. As a result, I enjoy raising awareness of charities and raising lots of money for them.  As the time drew near for me to decide on the charity to raise funds for this year, It occurred to me that I should raise funds for 'MissionIndia'.   I was personally touched by the pictures I saw from the visit made by previous volunteers to India.  Since I can't go at the moment, I can support the charity by raising funds. I made my intentions known and these lovely ladies decided to join in raising awareness of the poverty in rural India and also raise funds to make life easier by supplying basic life amenities like medical help, School equipments, toys etc to the community. Together, we can all make a positive difference. :)
