    Story

As a team & community Mission:FIT are always actively looking for ways to offer support & assistance to those who need it most within the Ayrshire community.

Through speaking to members of the community on a daily basis we know how tough times are and have been, and as a result the affect this is having on our young people within the community.

We are all aware of how severely our NHS services are stretched and therefore it’s vital we have other support services & networks to help our young people and offer that much needed support.

We know much can be achieved through the fundamentals we practice at Mission:FIT however we are also acutely aware of a greater need for additional support & help that specialist charities & services can provide to our young people.

Therefore Mission:FIT will be hosting a 24 hour burpeeathon to raise funds and help support local charity Megan’s space .

Megan’s Space is an Ayrshire-based mental health charity, established in 2019 after the tragic suicide of Megan Copeland. Megan struggled with her mental illness for thirteen years, before eventually taking her own life at aged 20. The charity provides therapeutic intervention by qualified practitioners to children and young people under the age of 26 who are struggling with their own mental health. So far, the charity has supported 250 individual young people, as well as bereaved families, delivered wellbeing sessions to schools and colleges all over Ayrshire and are continuing to receive an influx of referrals through both health and education. This past year the charity has seen a doubling of inbound enquiries resulting in referrals, and needs the community’s support to ensure we can fund sessions for any young person who may need it. At present, we are able to see a client within two weeks of their initial enquiry.

Each therapeutic session with a registered practitioner costs £50, and our 5 session support package costs £250. For every £1000 we raise, we could fund 20 therapeutic sessions for children and young people who are struggling with their mental health. It truly is a local cause, well worthy of your donation.

From 6pm Friday 27th October to 6pm Saturday 28th October will we be hosting a 24 hour burpeeathon @ MissionFIT2.0 Gym.

Participants will be issued 30 min slots with the aim to keep a continuous flow of burpees for a 24 hour period.

It’s going to be tough, it’s going to be sweaty, it’s going to be tiring but it’s going to be incredibly worth it!

We are asking all of our community to get behind this event for this tremendous charity, from taking part to donating what you can, every bit of help will be appreciated and help support a young person who needs it.
