Story
Each week 12 healthy and fit young people die of an undiagnosed heart condition. Some of these deaths are young football players collapsing on the football pitch suddenly suffering from a cardiac arrest.
Many of these deaths can be prevented.
Although qualified coaches carry an emergency first aid certificate, Junior football clubs are becoming more aware of the potential risk with many purchasing defibrillators however, more preventative steps can be taken in the form of heart screening with ECG's and Echiocardiograms.
C-R-Y was formed in in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research
Ackworth Juniors FC are working with CRY and Rory's Foundation to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s screening programme by raising funds to allow Rory's Foundation to host a screening event in the local community.
For every £2.50 donated, you will receive 1 entry into the Ackworth Juniors FC prize draw to win a NEW complete Blue & White Striped Adidas football kit (16 players inc GK - Size 30-32" Youth Large)
