Adam is our son who is 9 years old and has quadriplegic dyskinetic cerebral palsy due to a premature birth and breathing complications and needs help 24/7 with all physical needs and has no clear speech and moderate visual impairment.
He is a happy, cheeky boy who enjoys life and we try to give him as many experiences as possible. He has loved riding his old Tomcat trike for the last 5 years but it is now far too small for him so this page is to raise funds to buy him a new trike.
It is a very specialist trike that has a swivel seat so we can help him get on and off and has trunk control as Adam is unable to maintain a sitting balance without support. It has a parent steering/braking handle that also helps assist Adam to push the pedals round. Pedaling is very good exercise for Adam's legs to strengthen his quad muscles (as his opposing hamstrings are severely affected by his cerebral palsy). It also converts to a trailer trike so Adam can join the rest of our family on bike rides.
He loves to be out and about and especially loves the wind and his giggle is priceless when he is riding.
Everything special needs is so very expensive and trikes are considered non-essential and are not funded on the NHS so we sincerely appreciate your help with fund raising.
Adam's grandparents have raised £700 towards his new trike from friends and family who donated for their golden wedding celebration. We would like to raise the remainder of £1,931 as soon as possible, any help would be amazing, thank you.
